Tips on wearing masks!
Masks have become a necessity for us to enter and exit public places, and the correct wearing of masks is particularly important in the prevention and control of epidemic situations. What are the tips about wearing masks?
1、 Why wear a mask
Published epidemiological and virological research data show that COVID-19 is transmitted from symptomatic people to other close contacts mainly through respiratory droplets, direct contact with infected persons or contact with contaminated objects and surfaces. When the distance is less than 1 meter, the infected person coughs, sneezes or contacts with hands, causing the virus to enter from the mouth, nose or conjunctiva (eyes) and other transmission routes. Proper wearing of masks can not only protect healthy people from contact with infected people, but also prevent the further spread of viruses, effectively limiting the spread of certain respiratory viral diseases, including COVID-19. Current evidence shows that most COVID-19 transmission occurs through close contact between symptomatic infected persons and others without wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. Therefore, wearing masks is the most basic and important part for individuals to do well in epidemic prevention and control.
2、 When to wear a mask
The World Health Organization clearly points out that masks are required in the following situations:
When there is an epidemic situation of confirmed, suspected or clustered cases of infection in the area under jurisdiction: the public cannot keep a body distance of at least 1m outdoors or indoors. Unless the ventilation is sufficient, the public should wear non medical masks regardless of whether it can keep a body distance of at least 1m; People over 60 years old and people with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic lung disease, cancer, cerebrovascular disease or immunosuppression and other diseases should wear medical masks when they cannot maintain a body distance of at least 1 meter.
In any transmission scenario: personnel in the same room with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients should wear medical masks regardless of their symptoms.
Attention!
Disposable medical masks are also recommended for the following people, because once they are infected, they have a higher risk of severe COVID-19 and death:
·People aged 60 and above.
·People of all ages with basic diseases, including chronic respiratory diseases, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, obesity, immunocompromised patients and diabetes.
3、 What kind of mask do you wear
WHO recommends three types of masks to the public:
Reusable non medical masks conforming to ASTM F3502 standard or CEN work agreement 17,553, or non medical masks conforming to WHO basic parameters;
Disposable medical masks conforming to the medical mask standards EN 14683 Class I, ASTM F2100 Class I, YY/T 0969, YY 0469 (or equivalent standards);
When there is no choice, other types of face fitting non medical masks, including self-made multi-layer masks, are also acceptable.
How to distinguish between medical masks and non medical masks?:
(1) The appearance is slightly different, but we don't use shape to distinguish. Most medical masks are rectangular, and some are bowl shaped or foldable, while non medical masks are flat folded or duck billed; Respirators with filter valves are mostly used in dust workplaces. Article 4.3 of the Chinese medical protective mask standard GB 19,803-2010 clearly stipulates that "masks shall not have exhalation valves".
(2) Differentiation from packaging: For masks produced by formal means, the outer packaging will be clearly marked with words such as "medical surgical mask" or "surgical" or "medical".
(3) Differentiation from materials: medical masks are composed of three or four layers, each layer is made of fine to very fine fibers, such as non-woven materials (such as polypropylene, polyethylene or cellulose); Non medical masks need at least three layers, the innermost layer made of cotton or blended cotton, the outermost layer made of hydrophobic materials (such as polypropylene, polyester or their mixtures), and the intermediate layer made of synthetic nonwoven materials (such as polypropylene) or cotton layers.
4、 How to wear a mask
be careful! It is important to wear it correctly!
·Clean your hands before wearing the mask, before and after removing the mask, and after touching the mask.
·Make sure the mask completely covers your nose and mouth, and covers your chin.
·When removing the mask, please store it in a clean plastic bag. If it is a fabric mask, it should be cleaned every day. If it is a disposable mask, please throw it into the trash can.
·Do not use masks with valves.
5、 Should I wear a mask when exercising
Wearing a mask will hinder breathing, reduce lung ventilation and oxygen inhalation, reduce the concentration of oxygen in the blood, increase the respiratory rate and heart workload, which is equivalent to training in a state of hypoxia. Therefore, when walking, riding or exercising in less places for outdoor people, you can not wear a mask. Note that if you talk with people closely, you should wear a mask at the first time. If you exercise at home, do a good job of ventilation.
Everyone is responsible for participating in epidemic prevention and control, and everyone is the first responsible person for health. The key points of epidemic prevention are not only to wear masks scientifically, but also to keep hands clean and wash hands frequently; Reduce aggregation and maintain 1m line; Vaccine injection; open windows to improve air circulation Keep clean; Strengthen physical exercise, adhere to the rules of work and rest, ensure adequate sleep, and maintain a healthy mind; Healthy diet, smoking cessation and alcohol restriction; If there are symptoms, seek medical advice in time.
